Electromedics Information
A hearing aid is a discreet electro acoustic device that amplifies sounds, allowing wearers to communicate and socialise more easily. It works by using a microphone, amplifier and speaker to increase the volume of sounds you are hearing.
Hearing loss is a gradual process and you may tend to deny it until other people recognise. Unfortunately this means you may have further damaged your hearing by having to listen to music or television at high volume levels to cater for your hearing. You may also find that you’ve been avoiding social situations simply because it was too hard to hear, and therefore respond to, what people are saying.
The good news is that hearing aids may be able to help. The benefits of hearing aids include:
- Allowing you to hear more clearly, including environmental sounds
- Increasing communication skills and social contacts
- Improving the clarity of telephone use
- Improving the sound of music, televisions and other external noise
- Allowing you to redevelop your self-confidence
Every client at Paxton-Barrand is unique, and that is why we stock many different hearing aid styles. The hearing aid you need will be determined by your kind of hearing loss.
After living in a world that was much quieter before your hearing aids, you may need some time to get used to being able to hear again. Our fitting protocol includes several review appointments, giving you the opportunity to relate your experience so far and have your hearing aids fine-tuned.
